On the night, Mary won the title with the speech below, with not just the content but the delivery.
“Good evening ladies and gentlemen, I am Adomako Mary Opoku. A student of University For Development Studies, Wa Campus. This evening, I would like to talk to you about Congenital heart disease in which a Ghanaian based NGO known as Arula Memorial Heart Foundation has taken it upon themselves to raise funds to support children with such disease and to build a Heart Centre in memory of Arula. Ladies and gentlemen, do you know that 1 out of 100 babies born in a day is affected by such a disease? Do you know that in Ghana, according to UNICEF, about 7,570 are affected by this disease. 50% out of this figure which is 3,785 lose their lives due to the expensive nature of the surgery. Ladies and gentlemen, this is a more reason why you and I need to support the Arula Memorial Heart Foundation to make their aim a reality. Remember, the foundation does not need much, your pledge of 1GHC a month can help seal a hole in heart. Thank you“
